Debate Mate Opportunity

Get paid to work for an educational charity whilst you're still a student!
Debate Mate is an international educational charity that runs after-school debating clubs in areas of high child poverty, using students from top UK universities as inspiring peer-to-peer mentors. Our programme gives disadvantaged young people the skills needed to become exceptional young leaders – confidence, interpersonal communication skills and higher order thinking.

Debate Mate is looking for engaging, confident and passionate King’s students to become mentors on our Core Programme, as well as take part in other Debate Mate events. The programme involves running a weekly after-school debate club, for 16 weeks, on a day of the week that suits you. We’ll pay you £20 for each one-hour session (and reimburse your travel costs) and £30-90 for any competition days – over £500 for the year!

We provide comprehensive training to make sure you’re prepared and will conduct a DBS check on your behalf. Not only does work for Debate Mate look fantastic on your CV, it is an incredibly rewarding and inspiring way to spend your time as a student. In addition, Debate Mate is also in partnership with companies such as Deutsche Bank, Deloitte, The Economist, Teach First, Artemis Investment Management, Credit Suisse, Nomura, Simmons and Simmons, and Slaughter and May offering a wide range of connections and opportunities for all its mentors.
